Sarah Hemmingsen, PhD, currently serves as a Senior Policy Advisor at Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu since November 2021. Previously, Sarah worked at Christchurch City Council from July 2017 to November 2021 in various senior advisor roles, focusing on operational policy for Three Waters and providing support in the Mayoral Office for environmental and regional development. At Environment Canterbury (October 2014 - June 2017), Sarah held the position of Strategy Advisor, leading the Biosecurity Portfolio and advising on biodiversity policies. Sarah's experience also includes roles as a Policy Analyst at the Ministry for the Environment (November 2011 - September 2014) and as an Analyst at Te Puni Kokiri (June 2011 - October 2011), as well as earlier work with the Waitangi Tribunal. Sarah obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Geographical Science from The Australian National University and a Master of Arts in Geography from the University of Canterbury.
