Paula knew from an early age that she wanted to be a writer. As a young girl growing up on a farm in central Illinois, she had subscriptions to Highlights magazine and other children’s publications and waited anxiously for her issues to arrive every month. Even when she was older, she would read magazines and newspapers and observe how the author used his or her words – and then highlighted words she liked and crossed out ones she didn’t think made sense.

It should come as no surprise that Paula earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Illinois and began a career as a successful editor and writer. She has extensive experience covering the real estate market, having served as senior editor of Midwest Construction, editor of Midwest Real Estate News, editor of Chicago Industrial Properties and as a staff writer and freelancer for numerous publications.

Paula joined Taylor Johnson as a senior writer in 2010 and stepped into the role of senior account manager in January 2020. She has secured media placements in major publications such as the Chicago Tribune and Crain’s Chicago Business.

When she’s not working, Paula and her husband, Juan, enjoy spending time with their two young-adult children, whom Paula homeschooled, as well as visiting museums, going to the beach and spending time outdoors. She also enjoys cooking, especially Mexican cuisine.
