Kate Earlam-Charnley

Design Director at Taylor & Hart

Kate Earlam-Charnley has extensive work experience in the jewelry industry. Kate started their career as a Graduate Assistant at Liverpool Hope University from October 2009 to June 2011, where they assisted lecturers and provided technical support to students.

Kate then worked at Clarke Manufacturing from July 2008 to September 2011 as a Creative Personnel, specializing in graphic design, photography, website development, and CAD/CAM operation.

Kate joined Clive Burr in November 2012 as a Workshop Assistant, where they trained with master craftsmen and gained experience in making bespoke jewelry and silversmithing. Kate also handled workshop maintenance tasks.

From April 2015 to October 2015, Kate worked as a Fine Jewelry Designer at Mappin & Webb, where they focused on designing fine jewelry pieces.

In November 2015, they took on a temporary role at Dower & Hall as a Jeweler for the Christmas season.

From October 2011 to April 2016, Kate worked as a Silversmith Jeweler at their own company, Kate Earlam. Kate was responsible for all aspects of the business, including research, designing, and making one-off silversmithing and jewelry pieces. Their work primarily involved hand engraving.

Kate Earlam-Charnley then joined Taylor & Hart in April 2016 as a Design Consultant, providing expertise and guidance to clients. Kate later became the Head Designer in January 2018 and Vice President of Global Sales in July 2020. Their current role at Taylor & Hart is as the Design Director, a position they have held since July 2020.

Kate Earlam-Charnley's education history includes a Bachelor of Design in Silversmithing and Woodwork from Liverpool Hope University, which they obtained from 2005 to 2009. Kate then pursued a Masters by Creative Practice in Jewellery at the same university from 2009 to 2011. Kate also completed a Fellowship at Bishopsland Educational Trust from 2011 to 2012.

In addition to their formal education, Kate has obtained several certifications. Kate completed the Setting Out Programme at The Goldsmiths' Centre in August 2014 and received certifications in Rhino Gold and Rhino Level 1&2 from Simply Rhino Limited in February 2014. More recently, in February 2022, they obtained a certification in Fundamentals of Management from Goldman Sachs and The Art and Science of Buying and Merchandising from The Business of Fashion in March 2022.
