Phillip Miller

Software Contractor at Tau Science

Phillip Miller began their work experience in 2021 as a Software Contractor at Tau Science, where they developed image segmentation routines to recognize individual solar cells in electroluminescence panel imagery and created subimages from that data. Phillip also manipulated and traversed company file structure and excel files using pandas to match pre-existing data to detected solar cells and applied algorithms to new imagery. Additionally, they trained a convolutional neural net to classify cell defects in cell imaging using Keras and transfer learning with Google's EfficientNet.

In 2021, Phillip Miller also took on a role as a Mathematics Researcher at the University of San Diego. Phillip led a two-person team to model the configuration space of a hinged cube with detached flaps, and independently created a virtual-reality experience to allow a user to traverse through the cube's 4-D configuration space and view the corresponding physical state of the cube. Phillip also visualized and simulated Steffen's Flexible Polyhedron using Unity and Blender.

In 2022, Phillip Miller became a Calculus 3 Grader at the University of San Diego, where they solved and graded homework problems for a class of thirty undergraduates taking Calculus 3, and wrote individualized feedback on complex problems analyzing quality of students writeup and mathematical literacy in proofs.

Also in 2022, Phillip Miller began working as a Software Engineer at XCOM Labs. Phillip increased the logging server parsing speed over 60% by implementing Google's FlatBuffers protocol in C++ and creating JNI wrappers to access libraries. Phillip also developed and maintained build processes in Maven and CMake for internal tools, and created unit tests and documentation for packet decoding.

Phillip Miller began their educational career at Valley Catholic HS, where they obtained their High School Diploma in 2015. In 2019, they began their Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of San Diego, and they are expected to complete the program in 2023. In 2022, they also studied abroad at University College Cork, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science. In April 2020, Phillip obtained an Alcohol Server certification from the Oregon Liquor Control Commission.
