Riku Silvola has extensive work experience in the field of software engineering and IT security. Riku is currently employed at Tarides as a Principal Software Engineer and Engineering Manager, focusing on building sustainable and secure software infrastructure. At CERN, Riku held various roles including Staff Computing Engineer, where they led a team of engineers working on DevOps, CI/CD, and QA. Riku was also responsible for project management and coordination of software projects integrating IT services. Riku served as the Information Security Responsible and Advisor for Industrial Control Systems at CERN, assessing and addressing operational cyber security risks. Riku acted as a liaison with CERN Computer Security and was a representative member of EuroSCSIE. Prior to CERN, Riku was self-employed as an IT Security Support Consultant and worked at SWECO Industry Oy as a Software Engineer. Riku started their career at Porin Ravit Oy as a Computer Engineer and Operator.

Riku Silvola obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Information Technology from Satakunta University of Applied Sciences - SAMK in 2015. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Software Development from the Institute of Technology, Carlow in 2012.

In addition to their formal education, Riku Silvola has also obtained several certifications. In February 2022, they received the ITIL® Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management - ITIL 4 Edition from AXELOS Global Best Practice. Riku also acquired certifications in "How to Manage a Remote Team" and "TeamOps Certification" from GitLab in November and October 2022, respectively. Furthermore, they obtained the Certificat de Competences de Citoyen de Securite Civile - PSC 1 from CERN in 2019. In the same year, they also obtained the Moniteur Fédéral 1er degré Snowboard certification from the Fédération Française de Ski - FFS and the Moniteur snowboard Swissnowsport / J+S 1 / Moniteur Fédéral Level 1 certification from Bundesamt für Sport BASPO. Additionally, they received a certification in Software Security from Coursera Course Certificates in January 2016.
