Austin Young has been employed in a variety of roles since 2009. In 2017, they became self-employed as a Handyman. In 2019, they joined Berkeley Lab as a Mechanical Engineering Technician, where they ran the physics building machine shop and safely and effectively used manual and CNC mills and manual lathes, as well as assorted shop tools. In 2021, they joined Takachar as a Project Engineer and Pilot Equipment Manager. Prior to that, they were an Account Manager/Intern at CrowdFlower.

Austin Young attended Laney College from 2018 to 2019, earning an Associate of Science in Machine Tool Technology/Machinist. Prior to that, they attended California State University, Chico from 2009 to 2014. No additional certifications have been reported.
