Director Of User Research at Tailscale

Arvind Venkataramani has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Arvind is currently working as the Head of User Research at Tailscale since 2023. Prior to this, they worked at HashiCorp as a Senior UX Researcher from 2022 to 2023. In this role, Arvind built a research engagement model and roadmap for the cloud platform organization, identified adoption barriers, and collaborated with product leadership to improve user experience.

Before joining HashiCorp, Arvind served as the Director of Research at SonicRim from 2016 to 2022. Here, they led a team of researchers, improved the team's process, practice, and culture, and successfully hired new members. Additionally, Arvind worked as a Senior Design Researcher at SonicRim from 2008 to 2015, where they conducted strategic and evaluative research for clients in various industries, resulting in impactful product strategies and UX improvements.

Arvind's career also includes a role as an Adjunct Lecturer at Stanford University in 2021. Arvind taught a course on Design for Impact in Social Systems, focusing on systems thinking, measuring impact, and team building using a human-centered design process. At Steelcase Inc., Arvind worked as a Design Researcher from 2006 to 2008, and they gained experience as a Usability Intern at the Office Design Group at Microsoft in 2005.

Arvind Venkataramani completed their B.E in Computer Science & Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University between 1999 and 2003. Arvind then pursued an MS degree in Human-Computer Interaction from the Georgia Institute of Technology between 2004 and 2006.
