Steve Sem has been working in the tech industry since 2010. Steve started as a Lab Assistant at Minot State University, where they monitored and maintained computer labs, set up and maintained Apache servers, and troubleshot issues with computers, networks, printers and other devices. In 2011, they moved to SRT Communications Inc as an Internet Support Specialist, where they provided technical support for DSL, PPPOE, FTTH, and Dial-up, resolved customer issues with internet connectivity and email, and identified network issues with Windows, Linux and OS X. In 2013, they joined Tactical Network Solutions as a CNO Developer, where they designed, developed, and tested security tools that aided in exploit development, analyzed and reverse engineered embedded devices and firmware for security vulnerabilities, and developed applications that remotely exploited vulnerabilities. In 2018, they started working for Fortego, LLC as a CNO Developer, where they utilized their skills to work through the full life cycle of embedded device exploitation, reverse engineer embedded devices, develop exploits, perform network analysis, and create a framework for end users.
Steve Sem obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science from The Johns Hopkins University in 2018, a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science from Minot State University in 2013, and an Associate's degree in Lineworker from Bismarck State College in 2008.
