Stephen Osborne has a strong background in research and engineering. Stephen is currently the Director of Engineering at Syntiant Corp. starting from September 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Pilot AI Labs as the Director of Engineering from July 2018 to September 2022, and as a Senior Research Scientist from May 2017 to July 2018. Before that, they were a Research Scientist at KLA-Tencor from June 2013 to May 2017, where they developed image processing algorithms to improve device yield for integrated circuit manufacturers. Stephen also has experience as a Research Scientist at Stanford University, where they contributed to a joint European Space Agency and NASA cosmology experiment named Planck. Stephen'swork involved developing statistical algorithms for optimal analysis of data and studying the structure of the universe. Stephen worked at Stanford University from October 2006 to June 2013.
Stephen Osborne received their undergraduate and masters degrees in Physics from the University of Cambridge from 2002 to 2006. Stephen then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics from Stanford University, completing their studies from 2006 to 2013. In addition, they also briefly attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2004 and 2005, studying Physics and History.
