Chris Shea

Principal Engineer at Syndio

Chris Shea has a diverse work experience in the software engineering field. Chris is currently working as a Principal Engineer at Syndio since May 2023. Before that, they held the position of Director of Application Engineering at Syndio from March 2021 to May 2023.

Prior to Syndio, Chris worked at Democracy Works and served as the VP of Engineering from June 2017 to March 2021. Chris also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Democracy Works from November 2013 to June 2017.

Earlier in their career, Chris worked at Patch.com as a Senior Software Engineer from February 2011 to November 2013. At Patch.com, they were responsible for architecting and developing the backed code for the Patch Perks program and leading a research team. Chris also contributed to various aspects of the Patch platform code.

Before Patch.com, Chris worked at outside.in as a Software Engineer from March 2010 to February 2011. During this time, they rewrote the content platform to facilitate white-labeling.

Earlier in their career, Chris worked at 90octane as a Software Engineer from June 2008 to March 2010. At 90octane, they led the development of a lead generation platform and conducted code reviews and training for the engineering team.

Chris also has experience working as a software development contractor/consultant at USA Self Employed from December 2007 to June 2008.

At the beginning of their career, Chris worked at lgdb.com as a developer from June 2007 to December 2007. Chris wrote web-scraping engines for state legislatures and contributed to an open-source web spider framework.

Chris Shea's education history includes earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Math and Literature from UC Santa Barbara. This degree was achieved between 1995 and 2001. Subsequently, Shea attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where they pursued a Master of Fine Arts degree in Writing. This program was completed from 2002 to 2005.
