Rick Montgomery

Director Of Data Science And Machine Learning at Synaptiq

Rick Montgomery has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Rick is currently working as a Senior Data Scientist at Synaptiq since May 2022. Prior to that, from January 2022 to April 2022, they served as the Director of Data Science at LTX, A Broadridge Company. Rick also worked as a Data Science Engineer at the same company from December 2018 to January 2022.

Before their time at LTX, Rick worked at Fluence Analytics from August 2015 to August 2018. Rick held multiple positions at the company, including Software Engineer, Data Scientist, and Product Manager. In these roles, they developed and implemented analysis algorithms, co-authored a patent for a polymer characterization technology, managed databases for storage and mining, and developed software tools for scientific data conversion and reporting.

Rick's earlier experience includes working as a Graduate Research Fellow and Graduate Teaching Fellow at the University of Oregon from June 2008 to December 2014. Rick developed new interface technologies for electronic implants, researched nonlinear electronic effects, and led physics labs and lectures. Prior to that, Rick worked as a Fractal Analysis Consultant at Fractals Research LLC, analyzing photographs and performing fractal analysis.

Rick also has experience as an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where they measured elastic constants and researched high-energy focused ion beams. Rick's earliest role was as an REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) Fellow at the Center for Advanced Microstructures and Devices in 2006.

Rick Montgomery attained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Physics from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette from 2003 to 2008. Following this, they pursued further education at the University of Oregon, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Physics from 2008 to 2014.
