Mark Powell

Client Manager at Symplicity

Mark Powell has a work history spanning several years in various roles. Mark started their career in 1996 as a Library Assistant at the University of Gloucestershire. From 1998 to 2000, they worked as a Learning Technologist at the same university. In 2000, they joined the UK Government as an Information Specialist (Assistant Librarian) until 2004.

From 2004 to 2013, Mark worked at the University of Bristol, where they held multiple positions. Mark started as a Library User Services Co-ordinator and later became the Head of Information Services in the Careers Service. Mark also worked part-time as Honorary staff in the Careers Service.

In 2013, Mark returned to the UK Government as an Information Manager until 2015. This year also marked the start of their employment at the University of Gloucestershire, where they served as a Project Officer for the Future Plan Employability program from 2014 to 2015. Mark then transitioned to the role of Data and Systems Manager for the same program from 2015 to 2022.

In 2022, Mark took on the role of Information Manager at The Donkey Sanctuary, followed by their most recent position as a Product Support Specialist at Symplicity, which they began in October 2022.

Mark Powell's education history begins with their Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Swansea University, which they obtained from 1988 to 1991. Following this, they pursued their Master of Arts degree in History from the University of Gloucestershire, completing it in the academic year 1993 to 1994.

In 1998, Mark enrolled at the University of Bristol where they studied Information & Library Management, earning a Master of Science degree for the years 1998 to 2000.

More recently, Mark acquired a Postgraduate Certificate (Level 7) in Higher Education Leadership and Management from the University of Gloucestershire, completing the program in 2019 to 2020.

Alongside their formal education, Mark has also obtained additional certifications. In June 2022, they achieved the status of Chartered Member from THE CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION PROFESSIONALS. Mark also obtained the Symplicity Circle of Innovation - CareerHub certification from Symplicity in March 2022.
