John Hollan's work experience began in 1997 as a Residence Hall Director at South Dakota State University, where they were responsible for the operation of a co-ed residence hall. John then moved on to Linfield College as an Area Director/Clubs & Activities, supervising a group of residence halls and teaching an RA training class.
In 1999, Hollan transitioned to Oregon State University as a Residence Hall Director, overseeing a residence hall and conducting staff meetings and evaluations. John also worked at OIT Water Polo Club as an Advisor/Coach/Instructor, advising club members and teaching a physical education course.
In 2001, Hollan joined Oregon Institute of Technology as an Assistant Director of Residence Life, supervising staff and assisting with a student success mentor program. John also took on the role of Outdoor Programs Advisor, managing finances and advising students on trip planning.
