Lan Phan has worked in a variety of roles in the tech and engineering fields. In 2018, they were a Senior Full-Stack Developer (Ruby on Rails, Node, React + TypeScript), a Full-Stack Developer (Ruby on Rails and React), and a Frontend Developer (React + Firebase) at SWTCH. In 2017, they completed a Web Development Immersive Program at Bitmaker General Assembly. In 2016, they were a Mechanical Project Engineer at AVP Solutions. Lan's duties included project management, machine vision and automation, manufacturing and process, CAD- 2D & 3D drawings, and general engineering tasks. In 2015, they were a Project Engineer at eCycle Solutions and a Manufacturing Engineer at National Concrete Accessories. Lan was also an Engineering Specialist, Paint at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada in 2014. Lan's duties included project implementation, KPI achievement, and resolving shop problems.

Lan Phan graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Honour Mechanical Engineering Co-op from the University of Waterloo. In 2017, they obtained a Certificate of Web Development from General Assembly Canada, becoming a Full-Stack Web Developer. Additionally, they obtained a Certificate of Completion - Web Development from Bitmaker in December 2017, and a React certification from Wes Bos in November 2017.
