Peter Gordon has extensive experience in the field of environmental consulting and botanical research. Peter started their career in 2005 as a Rare Plant Monitoring Specialist at the University of Denver, where they developed monitoring programs for rare plant species and authored technical reports. From 2008 to 2009, they worked as a Conservation & Land Management Fellow at the Chicago Botanic Garden, collaborating on monitoring projects with various organizations.
Peter then joined the Bureau of Land Management, initially as a Botanist, where they provided technical support and developed long-term monitoring programs for plant species. Peter also trained and led teams for the Seeds of Success Program. After a contract role as a Botanist, they became an Ecologist/Project Manager at SWCA Environmental Consultants in 2013. In this role, they managed projects and provided ecological expertise.
In the same year, they also worked as a Self-Employed Environmental Specialist/Nursery Manager, providing a range of environmental services and managing a wetland plant nursery.

Peter Gordon began their education journey in 1997 at Flinders University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Biology/Biological Sciences. Peter completed this program in 1999. Following this, they joined the University of Adelaide in 2000 for their B.Sc. (Honors) degree in Botany/Plant Biology. This program lasted until 2001. Wanting to further advance their knowledge in the field, Peter then enrolled in the University of Denver in 2002 and completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Botany/Plant Biology in 2008.
