Rick Pastore has a diverse and extensive work experience in the IT and research fields. Rick is currently working as a Research Principal at SustainableIT.org since October 2022. Prior to this, they worked at The Hackett Group from June 2016 to October 2022, where they held the position of Senior Director and IT Research Advisor.
Before joining The Hackett Group, Rick worked at IDG (International Data Group) from 2005 to 2016, serving as the Vice President of Strategy for the CIO Executive Council. During their time at IDG, they developed leadership frameworks such as the IT Value Matrix®, the Future-State CIO® Journey, and the Digital C-suite (D-Suite). Rick also played a key role in developing workshops, webinars, conference agendas, research, and award programs to help executives transform their businesses.
Rick's work experience also includes their role as a Contributing Editor at CIO Magazine from June 2005 to October 2015. Prior to that, they worked at CIO from 1991 to 2005, starting as a staff writer and eventually being promoted to Managing Editor and Editor-in-chief. During their tenure at CIO, Rick developed various reader revenue projects and played an instrumental role in reporting on international operations and developing leadership series.
Rick's career in the IT industry began in 1988 at Computerworld, where they worked as a Senior Writer until July 1991.

Rick Pastore attended Boston University from 1983 to 1986, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies.
