Sungjin Lee began their work experience as a postdoc at The University of Tokyo from April 2011 to March 2012. Sungjin then moved to Stanford University, where they worked as a postdoc from April 2012 to July 2017. During their time at Stanford, Sungjin identified unknown synaptic adhesion molecules and verified their functions through various techniques in protein biochemistry, molecular biology, and neuron cell biology. Sungjin also used the CRISPR-Cas9 system to generate human embryonic stem cells and study the functional roles of proteins in human induced neurons.
In 2017, Sungjin joined Surrozen as a Scientist II and later progressed to the role of Senior Scientist in January 2019. Currently, they serve as a Principal Scientist at Surrozen, a position they have held since July 2021. The details regarding the end dates for their roles at Surrozen are not provided.
Sungjin Lee's education history includes a Bachelor's Degree in Life Science from the University of Seoul, which they received from 1995 to 2003. Sungjin then pursued a Master's Degree in Neurobiology and Neurosciences from Pohang University of Science and Technology, which they completed from 2004 to 2006. For their Ph.D., Sungjin Lee attended The University of Tokyo from 2007 to 2011, focusing on Neurobiology and Neurosciences.
