Samy Gardemeister currently serves as the Director of the Finnish Enforcement Department at Suomen tulli – Finnish Customs, a position held since September 2007. Responsibilities include overseeing Customs intelligence and analysis, controls, and post-clearance audit measures, as well as leading crime prevention and investigation operations. Gardemeister has held various leadership roles within the Enforcement Department, focusing on strategic planning, international relations, supply chain security, and compliance with EU and UN sanctions. Previous experience includes serving as a Technical Officer at the World Customs Organisation, where work involved compliance and facilitation initiatives, and as the Head of Intelligence at Finnish Customs, managing intelligence operations and risk management. Gardemeister holds a Master's Degree in Law from the University of Helsinki.
