Mathias Wexler has a diverse work experience in the field of music. Mathias started their career as a Tanglewood Fellow at the Berkshire Music Festival in 1978. From 1982 to 1984, they were a Fellowship recipient at the Aspen Music Festival and School. In 1985, they joined the University of Virginia as a Cellist, Piano Trio member, and Artist-Teacher. Finally, in 1995, they became a Professor of Music at SUNY/Potsdam, where they currently hold a position.
Mathias Wexler completed their education in a chronological manner. Mathias began their academic journey by attending Oberlin College/Conservatory from 1976 to 1981, where they pursued a Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Arts degree in Cello Performance and Psychology. Following this, they enrolled at Yale University School of Music and graduated in 1984 with a Master of Music degree, specializing in Music Performance. Later, they pursued further education at the Teachers College of Columbia University, where they obtained a Doctor of Education degree in 2009, focusing on Music Teacher Education.
