Position Description

The Residential Superintendent combines the skills of surveying, design, and construction management. They will be responsible for site assessments, energy storage layout, backup systems, electric subpanel additions, load relocations, and PV solar planning. The role also involves material planning and managing customer relationships for new construction and retrofit PV solar and energy storage projects.

Responsibilities

• Ensure each project’s design and installation meets or exceeds the customers’ expectations

• Survey customer homes/ properties for project information intake

• “Design” a basic site plan and elevation specifying the energy storage, PV solar, and residential electrical equipment needed to achieve the customer/ Sun Light & Power’s project mission (no Autocad or plan set generation work required)

• Generate, update and review BOMs; verify correct materials are available to maintain work flow

• Pre-construction planning and installation hand-off meetings

• Promote consistent job flow by assessing risk and “high-touch” elements of complex projects

• Maintain plans, material specs, as-builts and be knowledgeable in all aspects of each assigned project

• As needed, host inspections and be prepared for punchlist task execution; cite code to AHJ inspectors

• Maintain a rapport with all Installer team members, demonstrating leadership and good judgment

• Budget time for completing previous project punchlist/ closeout while working on current project and planning for the next project

• Optimize the profitability of the company through planning and operational efficiencies without jeopardizing safety and quality of work

Experience and Qualifications

• Commitment to safety, above all

• Current CA driver license with acceptable driving record

• Problem-solving skills

• Knowledge of energy storage and PV solar systems and how the two work together

• Physically capable of safely handling and setting up a large extension ladder, working confidently on pitched roofs, accessing attic spaces, and inspecting areas beneath homes

• A strong understanding of “buildability” and the practical aspects of construction

• Comfortable making site visits to assess projects and engage with homeowners, general contractors, and subcontractors

• Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems and NEC code requirements

• Strong work ethic with a positive, solution-oriented attitude and a commitment to delivering precise, high-quality results

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally with customers at all times

• Dedication to continuous improvement and optimizing process efficiency

• Proficient in basic computer skills, with the ability to effectively use cloud-based file management, email platforms, and document markup software
