Al Franquiz has extensive work experience in the field of hardware engineering and design. Al started their career at Motorola Home & Networks Mobility in 2004, where they served as a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff. During their time there, they led the design and development of the ASW200G Switch Fabric/Timing card for the AXS2200 GPON chassis and also developed a multiple port WAN Ethernet card for the same system. This project was successful and deployed by Verizon FIOS.
In 2013, Al joined ARRIS as a Principal HW Engineer/Distinguished Member of Technical Staff. Al was responsible for the design and development of a 10G EPON Fiber Module board for the Arris E6000 chassis, adding PON capabilities. Al led the circuitry design, layout, and testing of the board, and also generated HW specifications and DVT plans.
In 2019, Al joined CommScope as a Principal Engineer. Here, they worked on various projects, including the hardware design and development of a multiport Shelf Optical Line Terminal System for the Telecom Passive Optical Network market. Al also led the design effort of a High Density Remote PHY Device chassis for the Cable Modem Termination System market, where they designed microcontrollers, interfaces, communications circuits, and implemented signal retimer circuits for Ethernet interfaces.
In 2023, Al began working at SubCom as a Principal Engineer.
Al Franquiz holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Northeastern University.
