James Carney has work experience as a nuclear electrician's mate in the US Navy from August 2015 to August 2021. James then worked at Stream Data Centers, starting as a critical engineering technician in September 2021 and progressing to a lead critical engineering technician in September 2022.

In 2016, James Carney attended the Nuclear Power School at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command (NNPTC). The degree pursued and field of study are not available.
