Markus Westerström has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Markus started their career in 2003 with the Swedish Armed Forces, where they served in the military for 10 months. In 2009, they joined Atea Global Services Ltd., initially as a Software Consultant responsible for software deliveries and customer contact. Markus later became a Software Developer, working with ASP.NET and C#, and developed an installation program using WPF and WiX Toolset. From 2013 to 2015, Markus worked as a Team Lead, responsible for deliverance, requirement specifications, planning development iterations, and mentoring team members.
In 2015, Markus joined Stratsys AB as a Senior Software Engineer and later became a Team Lead for the Stratsys Meetings development team. Markus was responsible for developing the Stratsys Meeting app, managing meetings communications, and ensuring the app was searchable and accessible. In 2018, Markus transitioned to the role of Engineering Manager/Senior Software Engineer, where they focused on the technical excellence of the development department. Their responsibilities included addressing scaling architecture, infrastructure, services, deployment pipelines, and source control, and they also served as an ambassador for modern development methods within the teams.
Markus Westerström completed their Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Software Engineer & Technology Management at Chalmers University of Technology from 2004 to 2009. In 2007, they also attended National Chiao Tung University for a brief period to study Mandarin.
In addition to their formal education, Markus has obtained several certifications. Markus achieved the PSM 1 Professional Scrum Master certification from Scrum.org in December 2014. In August 2014, they received the MCPD: Designing and Developing Windows Applications Using Microsoft .NET Framework 4 certification from Microsoft. Markus also holds the MCTS: Windows Applications Development with Microsoft .NET Framework 4 certification, acquired in April 2013. Markus has received multiple certifications from Microsoft, including MCPD: Designing and Developing Web Applications with Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (December 2012), MCTS: Windows Communication Foundation Development Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (October 2012), MCTS: Web Applications development with Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (June 2012), and MCTS: Accessing Data with Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (February 2012).
