Michael Cima is a distinguished academic and industry leader serving as the Koch Professor of Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology since 1986. Cima holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, earned in 1986. Cima has held various directorial roles at multiple companies, including GelMEDIX, Stratagen Bio, T2 Biosystems, MicroChips, and Taris Biomedical, contributing to advancements in the field. From 2018 to 2021, Cima served as Associate Dean of Engineering and co-directed the MIT Innovation Initiative. Cima also worked as a consultant for JNJ from 2000 to 2005 and directed SpringLeaf Therapeutics from 2008 to 2013.
