Ariel Alvarez has had an extensive career in the art and gaming industry. Starting in 2005, Ariel worked as a Background/Layout Artist at Thunderbean Animation. In 2006, they interned as a Concept Art Intern at Factor 5, contributing artwork to the game Lair. Ariel then joined Electronic Arts as a Concept Artist from 2007 to 2009. They worked on various projects and contributed concept art during their time there. In 2009, Ariel began freelancing as a Concept Artist before joining San Jose State University as a Guest Lecturer in 2010, teaching visual design classes to animation/illustration BFA program students. During this time, they also freelanced as a concept artist and worked as a freelance concept artist at Hazardous Software Inc. From 2010 to 2014, Ariel returned to San Jose State University as a Guest Lecturer for two semesters. In 2011, they joined Kabam as a Senior Artist, creating concept art and production art for Kingdoms of Camelot and Glory of Rome. They then transitioned to an Art Lead role at Kabam, leading a team of artists and managing the asset schedule for their games. In 2014, Ariel joined Storm8 as a Lead Artist, leading art on games like Fish Frenzy Mania, Fairy Tale Wonderland, and Dragon Story 2: The Lost Island. They later became an Associate Art Director, helping streamline the outsource pipeline and managing other artists. Currently, Ariel is working as an Art Director at Storm8, where they lead a team of 6-8 artists and oversee the production process, ensuring content cadence and clear communication.
Ariel Alvarez pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Animation/Illustration from San Jose State University from 2001 to 2007.
