Joseph Hughes Schafer PhD is a distinguished academic and professional with extensive experience in cybersecurity, technology consulting, and education. Currently serving as Professor and Associate Dean at the National Defense University's College of Information & Cyberspace since 2016, Joseph also holds multiple leadership roles, including member of the Board of Directors at Compass Rose Benefits Group and board member focusing on cybersecurity and strategy at SoundMind. Joseph is a founding member of the Digital Directors Network, promoting digital diversity and cybersecurity governance. In addition to tenure at GWU as an adjunct professor, Joseph co-founded EnterSpire, which provides consulting in cybersecurity and data science, and previously co-founded KickMule, a consulting firm centered on healthcare and technology. Joseph's academic qualifications include a PhD in Computer Science from The George Washington University and an MBA from the University of Virginia.
