Amy Cook currently serves as Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Director of the Academy of Civic Life at Stony Brook University, a position held since August 2014. The Academy of Civic Life offers a summer pre-college program for under-resourced students from a local minority-serving high school, focusing on citizenship, democracy, and justice. Prior to Stony Brook, Amy Cook held various academic positions at Indiana University, including Professor, Associate Dean, and Art Department Chair, and served as an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at Emory University. Educationally, Amy Cook earned a PhD in Theatre, Cognitive Science, and English from UC San Diego, and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Theatre Directing and Psychology from the University of Michigan.
