Elena Martín Rodríguez

Senior Scientist at Stoke Therapeutics

Elena Martín Rodríguez has a diverse work experience in the field of biotechnology and genetics. Elena has worked at multiple prestigious institutions and has held various roles throughout their career.

Elena's most recent position is as a Senior Scientist at Stoke Therapeutics since January 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Scientist II at the same company from May 2021 to December 2022.

Before joining Stoke Therapeutics, Elena was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) from October to December 2020.

From February to July 2020, Elena worked as a Research Technician at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) in the 'Evolutionary Processes Modeling' lab led by Dr. Donate Weghorn. Elena was responsible for the experimental part of a project related to the evolution of mutational signatures arising from DNA damage repair gene deletions.

Elena has also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) from February 2018 to October 2018. During this time, they completed their PhD thesis on the control of G2/M cell cycle transition.

Prior to their postdoctoral research, Elena worked as a PhD Student at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) from October 2013 to February 2018. Elena received a FPI predoctoral scholarship and successfully completed their PhD thesis on the splicing factors SPF45/SR140/CHERP and their role in cell proliferation and cell cycle progression.

Elena's work experience also includes being a Master Intern at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) from January 2013 to June 2013, where they explored the relationship between splicing factors SPF45, SR140, and CHERP.

In 2012, Elena worked as an Undergraduate Intern at the Centro de Investigación del Cáncer (IBMCC-FICUS) on the project "Functional in vivo analysis of SMC3 oncogenic mutations in acute myeloid leukemia." Elena was granted a 'Beca de colaboración' scholarship for this position.

Furthermore, Elena had the opportunity to work as an Undergraduate Intern at The University of Manchester from October 2010 to June 2011. Elena received an Erasmus scholarship and completed the Laboratory Project "Study of methionine aminopeptidase 1 ribosome association in Saccharomyces cerevisiae" in the lab of Dr. Martin Pool.

Lastly, Elena worked as a Summer Intern at the National Center for Biotechnology-CSIC in Madrid, Spain in July and August 2010. Elena joined the lab of Dr. Miguel Vicente and worked on the project "Study of FtsZ in Escherichia coli: functionality of lateral mutant proteins and construction of chimeric proteins," thanks to a JAE-Intro scholarship.

Overall, Elena Martín Rodríguez has gained extensive experience and expertise in various research and scientific roles throughout their career in the field of biotechnology and genetics.

Elena Martín Rodríguez began their education in 2007 at the Universidad de Salamanca, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Biology. Elena completed their undergraduate studies in 2012. In 2010-2011, they attended The University of Manchester as an Erasmus student, although the specific field of study during this time is unknown.

Elena went on to further their education at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, starting with a Master's degree in Biomedical Research from 2012 to 2013. Following this, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biological and Biomedical Sciences at the same institution from 2013 to 2018.
