Karthik Bala began their work experience in 2006 as a Lecturer at Bapatla Engineering College, where they taught Data and Computer Communications and conducted research on the subject. In 2007, they joined the National Informatics Centre, Govt of India as a Programmer, where they worked on a national level e-governance project, migrating desktop-based software to the cloud and automating the conversion of code from swings to JSF. In 2008, they joined Nucleus Software Exports Limited as a Software Engineer, specializing in JSF and designing systems. In 2009, Karthik founded Headrun, and in 2017, they co-founded Stockone and assumed the role of Co-Founder and CTO. At Stockone, they focused on making warehouse management simple and efficient for SMBs across the world through their flagship product, StockOne.
Karthik Bala completed their primary and secondary education at St. Ann's School from 1989 to 1999. Karthik then enrolled at Adarsha Junior College from 1999 to 2001, though no specific degree or field of study is mentioned. Finally, they attended Anna University from 2001 to 2005, where they obtained a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Information Technology.
