Mike Funk is an accomplished educational leader and military officer with extensive experience in both fields. Currently serving as the Superintendent of Stillwater Area Public Schools since July 2022, Funk was previously the Superintendent at Albert Lea Area Schools for 13 years, during which time Mike earned the Minnesota Superintendent of the Year award in 2022. In the military, Funk held key positions in the Minnesota National Guard, including Chief of the Joint Staff and Army Chief of Staff, leading operations for significant events such as Super Bowl 52 and overseeing a NATO deployment during Kosovo's independence. Funk holds a Doctorate in Educational Policy and Administration from the University of Minnesota, a Master's in Strategic Studies from The United States Army War College, a Master's in Education from the University of St. Thomas, and a Bachelor's in Government from Saint John's University.
