Sharon Benson

Strategic Communications and Engagement Team Deputy at STI-TEC

Sharon Benson has diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Sharon started their career at the United States Department of Defense as a Library Technician and Copyrights Clerk, where they were responsible for organizing classified documents and providing guidance on US Copyright laws. Sharon then worked as a Guest Lecturer at the School of Advanced Military Studies, delivering presentations on philosophical topics to joint, multinational, and interagency attendees. After that, they joined SAIC as a Strategic Communications Analyst, where they contributed to the development of a detailed Strategic Communications and Engagement Campaign Plan & Strategy. Sharon also conducted special research studies and helped edit the Army Field Manual for Cyber Electronic Warfare and Computer Network Operations. Later on, they worked at Queen's Pantry British Imports as an Assistant Manager, handling staff coordination, customer relations, and publication creation. Sharon then joined EOIR Technologies Inc. as a Research Analyst, where they researched and documented intelligence data for analysis and publication. Sharon also contributed to the Army Science Board's Wargame. At Cubic, they served as a Wargame Reporter and utilized their communication skills to inform high-ranking members of the US government and military. Currently, they are working at Solutions Through Innovative Technologies, Inc. as a Strategic Communications and Engagement Team Deputy, where they assess the impact of senior leader engagements and prepares pre-engagement assessments for external meetings.

Sharon Benson began their education journey in 2000 at the University of Connecticut, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Classics. Sharon completed their undergraduate studies in 2004. Sharon later decided to further enhance their knowledge and skills in the field of Museology/Museum Studies and enrolled at Johns Hopkins University Advanced Academic Programs in 2019. There, they pursued a Master of Arts degree, which they successfully completed in 2021.
