Sean Gowing has a diverse work experience in the field of information security, starting with their role as an IT Client Services Analyst at Husky Energy in 2003. Sean later became an Information Security Analyst and Server Administrator at the same company before transitioning to the role of Information Security Team Lead (interim).

In 2013, Sean moved to Cenovus Energy as an Information Security Analyst Contractor and then joined Mawer Investment Management in 2017 as an Information Security Analyst. The following year, they co-founded and became the Managing Director of Keep Secure.

Sean's experience in virtual Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) roles began in 2018 when they joined Symend. Sean guided the company through enterprise security requirements and witnessed its explosive growth. Sean continued in this role until May 2021.
