Melissa Yang Rock, Ph.D., serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at SUNY New Paltz since August 2014, where courses include Human Geography, Political Geography, and Cultural Geography. Previous positions include Visiting Assistant Professor at Bucknell University, Postdoctoral Fellow at Dartmouth College, and various teaching roles at The Pennsylvania State University. Melissa also founded The Yoga Village and was an 8th Grade Math/Science Teacher for Teach for America. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Geography and Women's Studies from Penn State University and a Master of Science in Midwifery from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, among others. Research interests encompass Beijing Urban Redevelopment and Geographies of Care.
