Patrick Shelton has a diverse range of work experience spanning over several decades. Patrick began their career in the US Navy as a Boatswain's Mate, where they supervised seamen and managed deck seamanship. After leaving the Navy, they worked as a NOC Technician at Genuity, Inc, troubleshooting IA circuits and coordinating with telecom providers. Patrick then joined Vanguard Managed Solutions as a NOC Technician, monitoring customer WAN and LAN circuits and troubleshooting various network technologies. In 2004, they transitioned to CTC Communications as a Data Services Technician, where they served as a systems administrator for company Name and Web servers and provided support for both company and customer zone files, web space, and email. Patrick Shelton joined Google in 2006 as a Systems Administrator, responsible for installing and maintaining hardware and software in data centers and providing support for user account management, DNS, web services administration, and application administration. After leaving Google in 2012, they worked as an Independent Consultant at UnixClone Consulting Services, where they installed and repaired personal computers and servers, designed and implemented websites, and created graphics and edited photos for company logos and marketing materials. From 2013 to 2019, they worked at New Horizon Communications as a Translations Engineer, configuring VoIP routers and switches, working remotely with technicians during voice equipment installation, and troubleshooting installation issues with ISPs or customer networks. Most recently, Patrick Shelton joined Starry, Inc in 2019 as a Tier II Network Analyst, providing 24/7 support for the Starry network, serving as the primary point of contact for internal teams on complex technical issues, and monitoring and resolving network infrastructure events in real time.
Patrick Shelton began their education journey in 1996 at Quincy College where they pursued computer science. Patrick completed their studies there in 1998 without obtaining a degree. In 2001, Patrick attended Boston University BUCEC for a year and received a certification as a Certified UNIX System Administrator, focusing on UNIX System Administration. Throughout their career, Patrick also acquired several additional certifications, including Appliance Products, FAS3000 Hardware, and Hardware Fundamentals from NetApp in 2008, DSLAM Speed Link systems and Element Manager from Nokia in 1999, Macstar System from AT&T in 1999, and a Certified Network Associate: CCNA from Cisco in 2001.
