James Hordern

Partner, Portfolio Management at Stanhope Capital

James has over 30 years of experience in investment management and joined Stanhope in 2009.

James began his career at Mercury Asset Management where he ran the Lipper and Micropal, award-winning Mercury European Opportunities Fund before moving to head up the European, EAFE and Global Specialist Strategies at Goldman Sachs Asset Management. He was formerly a main board Director at Dalton Strategic Partners.

James sits on several prominent investment committees and boards including the Royal College of Physicians, the Salters’ Management Company, South Kensington Estates and the Henry Smith Charity, where he is a Trustee and chairman of the investment committee.

James graduated from Durham University with a B.A. Honours in Modern Languages and is also an honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. He is an Associate of the Society of Investment Professionals and of the CFA Society of the UK.
