Leon Vermaak is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in the insurance industry. Currently serving as the Head of Insurance Innovation and Global Head of Insurance at Standard Bank Group since November 2017, Vermaak also founded Whizzoh, a home assistance services platform, in March 2015. Prior entrepreneurial roles include founding Liberty Short-Term Insurance and operating Kopano from 2015 to 2017. Before these ventures, Vermaak was the Chief Executive Officer at Telesure Investment Holdings, Sanlam, and Santam Insurance, consolidating a robust leadership background. Vermaak holds a PhD in Innovation Management from City, University of London, an MBA from the University of Pretoria, and has completed executive programs at MIT Sloan and Harvard Business School.
