Kim Arruda has a diverse range of work experience. Currently, they are at Stamford Public Schools as the BCBA Department Head, providing leadership and collaborating with the Special Education leadership team. Kim also works as an SPED Professional Development & Coaching professional, delivering professional development and coaching opportunities to staff district-wide. Prior to this, they worked as a District Behavior Analyst, providing consultation and training to classrooms serving students with ASD and general education classrooms.

Before joining Stamford Public Schools, Kim was Supervisor of Transition Services and School-Age Program Coordinator at Hawthorne Country Day School. In these roles, they oversaw and expanded a high school Transition & Work-Based Learning Program, provided planning assistance to students and families, and developed staff and parent training. Kim also served as the Senior Special Education Teacher at Hawthorne, where they provided oversight to classrooms, including instruction, behavior management, and work-based learning/community integration programming.

Kim also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Mercy College and as the Applied Behavior Analysis Program Coordinator at AHRC New York City. In these positions, they developed trainings for educators, oversaw classrooms of students with disabilities, and developed student goals.

Kim Arruda has an extensive education history in the field of education and applied behavior analysis. In 2002, they obtained a Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education from Manhattanville College. In 2003, they pursued further education at Long Island University and received a Post Masters Certificate in Special Education.

Continuing their academic journey, Kim completed a course sequence in Applied Behavior Analysis at the Florida Institute of Technology from 2012 to 2014. Kim then attended SUNY Buffalo State in 2016 and 2017, where they focused on a course sequence in the Coordination of Work-Based Learning Programs.

In 2018, Kim enrolled at Niagara University and successfully completed a Master of Science in Educational Leadership, specializing in School Building/School District Leadership.

Kim has also obtained several certifications to enhance their professional qualifications. In 2008, they became a NYS Certified Special Education Teacher (Permanent K-12) from the New York State Education Department. Additionally, in 2014 they earned the title of NYS Licensed Behavior Analyst from the NYS Office of Professions and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Kim later obtained the Connecticut Licensed Behavior Analyst (CT LBA) certification from the Connecticut Department of Public Health in 2021.

In 2021, they attained two certifications from the New York State Education Department: NYS Certified School Building Leader (Initial) and NYS Certified School District Leader. Furthermore, in 2022, Kim obtained the Intermediate Administration and Supervision (092) certification from the Connecticut State Department of Education and the Special Education Teacher (165) certification from the same institution.
