Krista Morgan

General Partner at Stage Fund

Krista’s passion is making finance accessible. While she did not initially come from a finance background, she soon discovered the importance of having the ability to properly communicate a company’s financial picture to open doors and take advantage of opportunities. Starting in 2012, she was co-founder and CEO of P2Binvestor (P2Bi), a Denver-based fintech company.

P2Bi became a leader in marketplace lending, funding $1B to small businesses with an unparalleled online financing experience. Running a company that offered financing to small businesses meant she saw the many different challenges they faced.

P2Bi won numerous awards including winning the Denver Business Journal Fast 50 in 2017, being named a Colorado Company to Watch in 2018, and being on the Inc 5000 list of fastest-growing companies in 2019. Krista was a finalist for entrepreneur of the year by ColoradoBiz magazine in 2015, winner of the Denver Business Journal Power Book award for accounting, finance and business in 2016, and nominated for EY Entrepreneur of the Year in 2019.

Krista believes in authentically sharing her startup experiences and has been featured and published in numerous outlets including Forbes, Fast Company, and Inc.

Since P2Bi was acquired, she continues to explore her passion for making finance accessible as cofounder of two companies, aelin.ai and Stage.

aelin.ai is a tool for businesses to translate their financials into a format that banks can easily understand to speed the loan process. The aelin tool connects small businesses with banks in an automated way that leverages machine learning.

Stage is a private equity firm that makes control-based investments in businesses that have proven market traction but need a new approach and capital partner to get to the next level. Their hands-on approach allows the companies space to re-think, focus, and grow.

Krista loves hanging out with her dogs, collecting, and learning about art, and reading fantasy and adventure fiction and books with female protagonists. She is a passionate advocate of diversity in technology and serves on the board of Women Who Startup.
