Laura McKay has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Laura began their career as an Account Executive and later became a Senior Account Executive at Deborah Clark Associates from 2006 to 2010. Laura then worked at The Hub business network as a Committee Member, organizing networking events and contributing to the annual Hub Awards from 2008 to 2014. From 2010 to 2016, Laura held positions at Wild Card PR, progressing from Senior Account Executive to Account Director and eventually Senior Account Director. Laura managed communications strategies and led campaigns for food and drink brands. Concurrently, they worked as a Freelance PR and Brand Marketing Communications Consultant, providing support to businesses in the food and lifestyle sectors. In 2013, they volunteered as a Communication Team Committee Volunteer at Cornwall Community Foundation and from 2014 to 2015, they served as a Business Mentor at Young Enterprise UK. In 2016, Laura joined St Austell Brewery, initially as a National Media and Communications Manager, responsible for brand communications and PR for acquired company Bath Ales. Laura went on to become a Beer Brand Marketing Manager, subsequently Head of Marketing - Beer & Brands, and is now the Marketing & Communications Director, leading a team of 40+ and overseeing various aspects of marketing, communications, and innovation strategy. Since 2021, Laura has also been a Board Trustee at Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust, contributing to the organization's vision, mission, values, and long-term strategies.

Laura McKay received an ILM Business Coaching certification from Truro and Penwith College in 2019. In the same year, they also completed a course at The Beer & Cider Academy. In 2015, Laura completed a program in Management and Leadership from the Chartered Management Institute. Laura earned a CIM Professional Marketing Certificate from The Cornwall College Group in 2011. Laura'shighest level of education is a BA Hons degree in Media and PR from Plymouth Marjon University, which they obtained between 2003 and 2006.
