David E. Brown completed their Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Gannon University, during the period of 1970 to 1980. From 1982 to 1988, they pursued their Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Marketing and Finance at St. Ambrose University. Subsequently, from 1986 to 1990, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Physics with a focus on Acoustics at Northern Illinois University.
