Laura Rainey serves as a Senior Commercial Asset Manager at SSE Renewables since April 2023. Previously, Laura held various senior roles at National Grid from January 2016 to April 2023, including Senior Manager for New Ventures, where responsibilities involved developing energy infrastructure opportunities in Europe and the US, and leading the smart metering business. Laura's earlier experience includes positions as Senior Project Manager and Opportunity Manager at National Grid Ventures, focusing on strategic infrastructure projects and market entry strategies. Prior to National Grid, Laura worked as an Energy Policy Analyst at the Energy Technologies Institute, commercializing critical technologies in the energy and transport sectors, and as an Economist at Ofgem, where policies for a net-zero economy were developed. Laura Rainey holds a BSc in Mathematics and an MSc in Carbon Management from The University of Edinburgh.
