Madeleine Young is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in construction dispute resolution. Currently serving as Head of Legal for Group Dispute Resolution at SSE plc since August 2023, Madeleine previously held the position of Senior Solicitor in Group Energy Markets at SSE plc. Prior roles include Of Counsel and Senior Associate at CMS UK and CMS Scotland, respectively, where expertise was developed in adjudication, arbitration, and court proceedings, as well as mediation, focusing on a wide range of construction and engineering matters under various contracts such as NEC3, JCT, and SBCC. Madeleine's career commenced at MacRoberts LLP, specializing in contentious construction and gaining extensive experience across diverse dispute resolution mechanisms. Educational qualifications include an M.Phil in American History from the University of Glasgow and a Diploma in Legal Practice from GGSL, along with an LLB from the University of Strathclyde and a history degree from the University of Glasgow.
