Saara Mehtonen is a seasoned professional in the field of materials engineering, currently serving as Project Manager in Corporate R&D at SSAB since February 2017. Prior to this role, Saara held the position of Senior Product Development Engineer at SSAB Europe Oy from February 2015 to February 2017. Academic experience includes a Postdoctoral Researcher role at the University of Oulu, focused on the impact of micro/macrosegregation on the properties of rolled plates, and extensive research during a PhD, emphasizing physical metallurgy of ferritic stainless steels. Additional experience includes positions at the University of Sheffield, The University of British Columbia, and Outokumpu, along with a solid educational foundation with a Doctor of Science in Technology from the University of Oulu.
