Carmen Leahy has a long and varied work experience in education. In 1997, they began their career as a Middle School Language Arts teacher at San Antonio de Padua. Two years later, they moved on to Brentwood School, where they were a Teacher and English Department Chair. In 2013, they joined The Cambridge School of Weston as an English Teacher, where they used progressive education strategies to create student-centered, project-oriented experiences, designed and implemented curriculum, and collaborated with the English department to revise and extend the 9th grade Writing Foundation Workshop class. In 2020, Leahy hosted a learning pod at their home, where they lead five students through a hybrid learning experience. Most recently, in 2021, Leahy has taken on two roles: Content Developer and Marketer for SquidBooks, and Founder of Novel WordPlay, a discussion and activity guide for novels.
Carmen Leahy received their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Program of Liberal Studies from the University of Notre Dame, and then went on to receive their Master of Arts (M.A.) in Education from Loyola Marymount University.
