Ming Zhou has held various roles throughout their career. They started at Altair in 1998, where they served as the SVP of Software Development for Structural Analysis and Optimization until December 2021. In December 2021, they transitioned to the role of Chief Engineer in Computational Mechanics and Design Optimization at Altair, which they currently hold. Ming Zhou also holds the position of Editor-in-Chief for 'Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization' at Springer Nature since August 2020. They have been a member of the Advisory Board at Northwestern University's Mechanical Engineering department since May 2021. Additionally, Ming Zhou serves as the Vice President of the International Society of Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization since May 2019, with their term ending in June 2023.
Ming Zhou completed a Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degree in Structural Mechanics and Aircraft Design from Beihang University between 1978 and 1988. Following this, Zhou obtained a Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing.) in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Duisburg-Essen between 1988 and 1992. Finally, Zhou pursued a Habilitation in 'Strukturmechanik und -optimierung' from the University of Duisburg-Essen, which was completed between 1992 and 1998.
