Dr Paul Caldbeck

Account Director at Sportlight Technology

Dr. Paul Caldbeck has extensive work experience in various roles related to sports science and strength and conditioning. Their most recent position was as an Account Director at Sportlight Technology, which they started in April 2022. Prior to that, they were the Sports Science Lead at the same company from September 2020 to April 2022.

In addition to their work at Sportlight Technology, Dr. Caldbeck also worked as a Visiting Lecturer at Newman University Birmingham from February 2021 to April 2022. Before that, they were a Freelance Performance Scientist at PC High Performance from October 2018 to April 2022.

Dr. Caldbeck gained valuable experience in the field of strength and conditioning through various roles in football clubs. Dr Paul served as the Physical Preparation Lead at West Bromwich Albion Football Club from October 2017 to October 2018, and as a Strength and Conditioning Coach from January 2015 to October 2017. Dr Paul also worked as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at Edgbaston Priory Club from January 2016 to July 2017, and as the Lead Academy Strength and Conditioning Coach at Coventry City Football Club from September 2014 to January 2015.

Before entering the football industry, Dr. Caldbeck worked as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Derby County Football Club from June 2013 to June 2014. Dr Paul was responsible for designing and leading strength sessions for the U21 team. Dr Paul also gained experience as a Strength and Conditioning Intern at Northampton Rugby Football Club Ltd from February 2014 to May 2014, assisting in post-match screening and delivering strength and conditioning provisions.

Prior to their roles in football, Dr. Caldbeck was the Head of Athletic Development at the Elite Player Development Group of Leicester Tigers from May 2012 to May 2013. Dr Paul led a team of coaches in providing strength and conditioning provisions to equip players for the full-time academy system.

Dr. Paul Caldbeck has a diverse education history spanning multiple fields. Dr Paul began their educational journey at Nottingham Trent University from 2008 to 2010, where they pursued a Higher Certificate in Civil Engineering Construction. Moving on, they attended the University of Derby from 2010 to 2013 and obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons) degree in Sport and Exercise Science. Seeking further specialization, they enrolled at Coventry University from 2013 to 2014 and completed a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Strength and Conditioning. Dr. Caldbeck then pursued a degree in Applied Sport and Exercise Science at Liverpool John Moores University, graduating with a DSportExSci qualification between 2017 and 2020. Currently, they are attending the University of Derby for their Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Business Administration and Management, General, which they expect to complete in 2024. Dr. Paul Caldbeck's educational background reflects a continuous pursuit of knowledge and expertise in a variety of fields.
