Nick Evans has extensive experience in planning and strategic management. Nick began their career as an Assistant Planner at Union Railways in 1994. Nick then moved on to SERPLAN, where they worked as a Planner and was responsible for rural issues and strategic environmental assessment/sustainability appraisal of the Regional Plan. In 1998, they joined Sport England as a Planning Manager, where they developed planning policies and managed the development and implementation of a Planning Applications Database System. Nick also assessed lottery bids and offered pre-application advice. In 2004, they were promoted to Senior Strategic Planner at Sport England, where they project managed the development of Active Places. Currently, they are the Head of Planning at Sport England, responsible for the overall delivery of the planning function and leading on Active Environments projects.
Nick Evans completed their Bachelor of Science in Geography from the University of Birmingham from 1988 to 1991. Nick then pursued further education at the University of Reading and obtained a Master of Philosophy in Environmental Planning from 1991 to 1993, with a focus on Land Use Planning and Management/Development.
In addition to their formal education, Nick Evans has obtained several certifications related to project management. These include the Agile Programme Management Foundation from APMG International, obtained in May 2018; AgilePM Agile Project Management from the DSDM Consortium, obtained in November 2016; Managing Successful Programmes from APMG International, obtained in December 2006; Management of Risk Practitioner from APMG International, obtained in October 2006; and Prince2 Practitioner from APMG International, obtained in March 2004.
