Balázs Horváth

AI Engineer at Spoor

Balázs Horváth has diverse work experience in the fields of AI engineering, computer vision, and medical device engineering.

Starting in 2018, Balázs worked as a Student Researcher at Eindhoven University of Technology, where they participated in a project focused on contrast agent dispersion in ultrasound imaging. Balázs helped build an in-vitro experiment setup, conducted video acquisition, and analyzed data to determine optimal flow-rate for ultrasound imaging.

In 2019, Balázs interned as a Service Engineer at Draeger Medical Romania, where they learned about medical device construction and accompanied colleagues on visits to hospitals to calibrate, repair, and inspect medical devices.

In 2020, Balázs joined IMOPEDIA.ro as a Junior AI/ML Researcher. Here, they contributed to an industrial research project aiming to enhance real-estate portals using AI and deep learning. Their main tasks revolved around computer vision tasks, particularly auto-tagging. Balázs implemented, fine-tuned, and evaluated object detectors based on YOLO architectures.

Balázs is currently employed at Spoor as an AI Engineer, specializing in computer vision. Balázs is involved in the development of custom object detection and tracking algorithms for detecting and tracking birds near wind farms. Their responsibilities include implementing, training, and evaluating object detection algorithms.

Balázs Horváth completed their education at the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest. Balázs obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from 2015 to 2019. Following their bachelor's, they pursued further education and received a Master's degree in Advanced Techniques for Digital Imaging from 2019 to 2021. In addition to their formal education, Balázs has obtained several certifications in the field of artificial intelligence and deep learning. These certifications include the DeepLearning.AI TensorFlow Developer Specialization from Coursera in October 2020, the HelloAIRIS - Artificial Intelligence Online Training from EIT Health in September 2020, the Deep Learning Specialization from Coursera in August 2020, the PyTorch for Deep Learning with Python Bootcamp from Udemy in April 2020, and the Complete Python Bootcamp: Go from zero to hero in Python 3 from Udemy in November 2019.
