Harmen Smid has a wealth of experience in various leadership roles. Harmen is currently the CEO and Co-Founder of S&dB, a start-up/scale-up in agtech that focuses on sustainable seed enhancement concepts. Prior to this, they worked in management consulting.

In 2017, Smid became the owner of Van Maeskant Jonkers BV, and also served as the Managing Director of Elastofirm, where they led successful buy&build activities in technical rubber and orchestrated a profitable exit to a private equity firm.

Before that, Smid held key positions at Cementbouw (CRH) as the Managing Director and Director Bindmiddelen Groep. At Loders Croklaan (Unilever), they were the Managing Director for Egypt/MENA and also worked as an Account Manager for Central & Eastern Europe.

Smid began their career at Unilever in 1997 as an Industrial Marketing/Sales Management Trainee Crosfield. Throughout their career, they have consistently demonstrated strong leadership skills and a track record of success.

Harmen Smid pursued their undergraduate studies from 1990 to 1996 at the University of Twente, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Technische Bedrijfskunde/Technical Business Administration. This degree is also known as "Ingenieur (Ir.)" or "MSc.".
