Steve Raymond has had a varied career in the finance and technology industries. From 2008 to 2011, they worked as an Analyst for Wells Fargo Securities. Steve then moved to H.I.G. Capital, where they served as an Associate from 2011 to 2012. In 2012, they began working as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2017, they co-founded Split Technologies, Inc., where they served as CFO/CTO. In 2020, they joined the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill again, this time as an AI Research Fellow at Rethinc Labs.

Steve Raymond completed their Bachelor of Science in Economics (with a minor in Mathematics) at Duke University in 2008. After that, they went on to pursue a Master of Science in Economics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which they completed in 2014. Steve then continued their studies at UNC Chapel Hill, earning their Doctor of Philosophy in Economics in 2020.
